Ministry of Tourism Legislation
MAKE SURE YOU ARE COMPLIANT!
From January 2023 it is compulsory for all property owners to be licensed if they want to advertise and/or rent their property out to short term and holiday guests (like AirBnB, Booking.com, Tripadvisor etc.).

On 17th Jan 2020, the House of Representatives passed a bill amending the 2019 Law that regulates the establishment and operation of hotels and tourist accommodation establishments. All self-service accommodation establishments must comply with the provisions of the law within 2 years (i.e by the end of December 2022)

What this means is that unless you or your property manager have a licence to advertise and rent your property, you will not be able to rent your property out and will be liable for a fine.

According to the new law, in order to get a licence, owners or their property managers must:
Be registered with the Cyprus tax department (have a taxpayer identification number or VAT); and
Have valid home and public indemnity insurance; and
Comply with health and safety requirements.
